The MCMF Chronicles - Journey of a Life Time (Part 2)

It's a brand new day. A fresh morning. Birds are singing. It is 6.30am in the morning. I should wake up now and get all things done. I need to go to work. As I start to open my eyes wide, I realized that I have resigned for the past few days. Oh dang, I forgot.  With just that snap, I quickly feeling drowsy and I just zonked and get back to sleep. I am again an unemployed graduate. But this time it is for a reason. I am waiting for the confirmation call from Scicom Academy that I had interview yesterday.

The day begin with my daily routine. I woke up, had a little coffee while surfing the internet, download some cool songs, play them out loud with my cool stereo system in my room, and start singing out loud. I sing like crazy. I pretend that I am Steven Tyler. Or James Durbin. But I am far far far away to sing like one of them. I am more like country singer than heavy metal. Just so you know, American Idol 10 winner is a 17 years old country singer from Garner North Carolina - Scotty McCreery.

Somewhere around the afternoon I received a text  from MyPartners. I thought it was a confirmation text, but then I was wrong, the guy who wrote the text ask me a question which sounded like this :

"If you were given a chance, will you work at Kuala Lumpur after completing the 6 weeks program?"

I replied the text with

" I will consider the offer." I am not that stupid just to say yes in everything.

Around 6.00pm in the evening while I am in a " far far away land of Shrek " ( zzzz ) I feel some vibration in my pillow. I ignored it. It keep on going. It starts to vibrate even harder. I woke up, and search where is this strange feeling comes from. It was my mobile phone, and there's an incoming call, a number which I am not familiar with. I answered it of course, and it was the same voice that I received before, and he congratulates me for successfully advanced to the program. I yawned and thank him. Guess I need to prepare my things then. I begin to have lots of questions. Lots of questions that I didn't think it matter to myself. LOL

The next morning, at 6.50pm  I depart from my home. Destination -- Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kampung A and B. This time I didn't get lost like yesterday. I am successfully reached the actual destination. There, I saw few strangers. I never had seen them anywhere around before. I noticed one girl which I saw yesterday who is a lot resemblance to my friend (Feni Belsha) and I noticed one guy who is like my uncle with that ripped figure (Clarence). I parked my car and slowly walk out. It was a very awkward feelings. Everybody is a stranger to me. Oh well. I didn't know them, so I walk a little bit far from where I parked and sit. Then there's another car who parked right in front of my right side. He's also look lost, strangers are everywhere. (A Samad).
From left : Clarence, Feni, A Samad (Sam)

Then after waiting for several minutes , I saw everybody walk down the hill. I joined them but I walk more slowly, trying to scan the whole new environment. Then someone call me.

"Ui. Ko pun join ni program ka?"
"Ya. Apa mau buat di sini ni aa?"
"Mau daftar kolej ba ni. Ko dari mana?"
"Penampang. Siapa nama ko?"
"Bobby. Tapi nama pura la. Ko?"
"Eamon. " (shake hand) "Ko siapa?"
"Rahmat. Panggil ja Achok"
"Oh. Saya rasa saya la paling muda sini ni. "
"Ko berapa umur? Sudah graduate ka? Ko orang UMS ka?"
"Sudah graduate baru ja bulan lalu. Bukan UMS, di UiTM Sarawak. Kamu sudah graduate?"
"Kami lama suda bos, last year lagi. Fresh habis kamu ni bos"

Then come one obvious dusun-look guy (Eddy)

"Ainah, ko pun ada sini juga?"
"Ya. Lama suda kamu sini?"
"Baru ja. Ui ni orang paling muda. Fresh habis. "
"Eamon" (Shake Hand)
"Eddy. Bila ko graduate? "
"Baru bulan lima tu hari. Ko sudah?"
"Belum lagi saya graduate ni, baru ja habis study".

From left : Alfian (Bobby), Rahmat (Achok) , Edirius (Eddy) and Saiful (Wan)

The conversation went on and on and on with some ice breaking question. Then Bobby ask me to join him together with his friend Achok to have our own "tour" to the room.
At first we were given a key to the room which is at the end of the first floor. The room's condition was pretty messy so we decided to change the room. It will takes time to clean up so we decided to just handle that later.  The second time we went to the Hostel Main Office we met Saiful Reduan. I didn't know him but both Bobby and Achok do. After Bobby obtained the new room's key we got back to the room and have a tour by our own.

Both of them are planning to move to the room by tomorrow or next week, I in the other hand still thinking whether I want to stay in the hostel or willing to drive everyday back and forth. My heart tells me I should stay. And I decide I will move there by Monday next week, since I haven't prepare anything yet.

Moving forward.

After we arrived in the class, the first thing we need to do is to count numbers 1 and 2, and group ourselves according to the number. I am in group 2, Bobby and Achok are in group 1. We were given two types of tests. Writing Test and Oral Test. So the Group 1 stay in the same room for the Oral Test, while the Group 2 need to go upstairs for some Writing Test. While sitting there waiting for the question paper, I spot one guy who seems familiar to me back in St.Michael Penampang.

"Eh, Ko dari St.Michael bah kan?"
"Ya. Eh ko pun kan?"
"Ya tapi time ko Form 2 sy Form 1 hehe"
"Oh. Patutlah macam pernah nampak. haha"

After I done the writing test, I leave the room and go the room downstairs to see what's they are up to now. Bobby and Achok are still waiting for they turn. Joining with them is Raieman who is also waiting for his turn.

It's lunch time now and I go to the cafe and sit with How Chi Sun and one girl from Miri, Sarawak - Caroline Jau. I talk to her like she's an old friend. I clicked with her just like that.

How Chi Sun and Caroline

The day continues with our group's turn for the Oral Test, but before we begin the MyPartners crew have some important announcement that all of us need to hear. They gave each and everyone of us a set of Letters of Agreement about the program, which pops out a big confusion for me myself, that from what I understand from the previous briefing, "there will be no contract for us to sign in". Anyway, it's happening now and they ask us to read and sign them immediately by 5.00PM that day. Saiful Reduan was sitting next to me and complaints

"Aik? Elaun Fifteen atau Fifty ni?"
"Fifteen la"
"Ainah ari tu cakap Fifty per day. Cuba ko tanya dulu tu yang jalan-jalan tu"

"Kak, elaun fifteen ka fifty?"
"Fifteen, lime belas"

Then she walks away and Saiful continues to mumbling by himself.

"Ni kalo agreement begini panjang ni, mau baca betul-betul dulu ni, bawa pigi rumah dulu.. baca bagus-bagus."

And suddenly..

"Agreement tu you all kene hantar hari ni juge tau. Make sure you all ade tandetangan kecik every page ok. Sign je kat bawah setiap muke surat tu. Kepilkan skali dgn resume ngan gambar korang ok. And satu lagi, kite nak you all bagi dgn kite orang you all punye Bank Statement, boleh buat kat ATM Machine. Tau tak korang cemane nak buat?"

Enough about MyPartners , I don't want to give them any extra space on this blog post as they will lead to more interesting story which I will write about it soon.

Now it's time for the Oral Test. Immediately after Ms. Susan invites us who wants to be the first, Saiful stood up and walk in hurry to get the spot. He wants to go back earlier so he wants this to finish ASAP. I on the other hand trying to scan my surroundings to recognized other friendly faces that will be OK to chat with, while waiting. I change my position , and sit in the second line. There I met a girl with obvious local looks, Fazlyanna, and with her is Fenny Belsha and one very familiar looking for me and a very friendly girl, Charlene. The other girls I saw as I remember was Lydia and Fyona.

From left : Lydia, Fazlyanna (Fuzz) , Charlene, Fyona

It is now my turn to interview. I sit down and have no nervous at all because I don't get nervous when I talk. Ms Susan ask me about my self and I told her everything what she expects me to do. After that she told me one thing which I never will forget.

"You know what, you talk like those from American Idol"

I was like "huh ? " Then she laugh and we continue the conversation. It gets funny sometimes when suddenly she ask about my private life, what do I normally do in my life, what kind of dog's breed I have at home etc.
Sometimes she chuckles and hold her self not to burst out laugh which kinda makes me wonder where exactly did I put any joke in my words. LOL

Anyway, as always the interview is done well and I am satisfied of it. I walk out to the door, get into my car left UMS and go back home. Tomorrow will be a brand new day as more people will be introduced.
Note : I did not know all the names back then. The name was confirmed after the "investigation" during the program.

The MCMF Chronicles - Journey of a Life Time (Part 1)

It's been a while since the last time I post something on my blog (approximately like 4 months ago).  I've inspired by my friend Debrah who posts a blog about My Career My Future (MCMF) which is basically a Malaysia Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) program for the unemployed graduates. The program focuses about communication skills in business and workplace. This program has two main support : Scicom Academy and MyPartners.

It all begins when I received a call from Scicom Academy somewhere around the middle of June, telling me that I've been chosen to join the program. I was partially dubious about it and told Alex, the one who made the call that I will think about it first and will get back to him soon. Later on the next day, I made a phone call to the academy and this time it was another person answering the phone, and I forgot his name. I made a thoroughly investigation whether the program is approved and not a fraud. Still, I sense some uncertainty about it and did not give him my final answer. I seek for more information on the internet, and told some of my close friends about this and they agree to join in. I received another call from them , this time it was a female who likely to be known as Sumitha. I told her about my friends and suggested their name to be officially call and inform by the academy. Eventually my friends did received the call, and we decided to have an unofficial meeting on one of their house. After lots of discussion, we are all agree to attend the briefing on Monday. I had been giving two optional day to attend it, whether on Monday (20th June 2011) or Tuesday (21st). Still I have lots of uncertainty. I told Sumitha that I will attend it on Tuesday.

On Sunday June 19th 2011, my friends told me that they decided not to go, which is a big surprise for me. Now I am left alone. I try to think in positive way, and made some comparison between the benefits to stay or to go. I decided to just go all by myself. The obvious reason why they made up the last decision is because of the confusing information that we've received, which basically told us that we need to bring all of our things together since we are going to stay for about 6 weeks. I am not really sure by myself, yet I am totally doubt about the true identity of Scicom (I never heard about it anyway so don't blame me).

Universiti Malaysia Sabah

The next morning I am still doubt about it, but I just go anyway. The briefing was held in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) which is just a few miles away from my house. Since I have nothing to do on that day, I just give it a try. I arrived in UMS after 40 minutes drive - blame that ridiculous traffic jammed in the morning. I got lost like 5 times before I reached the actual venue. I went somewhere near the beach (ODEC) , the water tank, the "twin tower" and even the sport stadium, which means I have circled the whole radius of the university in a 20 minutes. Little do I know, these places that I "visit" will bring lots of sweet memories in my life.

I actually looking for a hall aptly known as "Anjung Siswa". Damn, it was right in front of the main entrance - the very first building you will see after the roundabout, yet I get lost. Again, not my fault, blame on the poor design of the signboards (or the inaccurate information that I received from the guards). It was a very hot morning, I am all drenched with sweat as I finally arrived in the actual venue. Not that I did not want to ask any people around the road, it just that I did not saw any. It was a semester break for the university anyway.

Again, I lost. Where's the damn hall? This is a big building. Where did everyone go? I look for any homosapiens around the building and by some instinct I am lead to an office. Finally I found a girl, who is currently applying makeup on her face. With an unstable breath (I am gasping for air dammit) I ask her, where is the venue for MCMF? With a gloomy look that girl gave to me, she said "What? What is MCMF? ". Luckily I was still calm on that moment, and I explain her one by one about the program and with a false surprise expression she said "Ohh... emm.. it is in upstairs, they already start briefing". Yes I know, I lost and had arrived a bit late (an hour with few extra minutes late) and all I want is just to attend that BRIEFING. What a "wonderful" morning. With a fake smiles, I gave that girl ( I don't think she's a girl anymore, more likely a mid age woman) a big thanks and walk straight to the door and leave the office. I walk slowly because I need some cool air LOL.

When I arrived (finally) at the hall (more likely a classroom) I saw lots of people, from a whole various generation you could ask for. There's a face from 60's , 70's , 80's and even 90's (which I assumed they are actually older but with a gift to look younger than the actual age). I am tired, and all I need was a cool air so that I can relax. Soon after I laid my butt to a chair I saw an Indian woman flashing a 10 Ringgit Note to whoever dare to grab it. Ah I know this trick. You will get the RM10 for real if you just go and grab it and it I grab it now I could use the money to covered my fuel expenses LOL. But I am just tired and I am at the back seat and there's lot of strangers in the room so I decided to just laid back and enjoy the show. There's one girl who grabbed the money and yes of course she owned it.

The briefing continue with some nice topics. The one which amused me a lot is the list of the company that will hire us ( I saw Dell, Nokia, Malaysia Airlines.. all of my dream company to work with) and I just stunned. Wow. And then the topic comes with a bad news (which not so bad after all) that told us that they will only select the lucky 35 people.

" I will nail this, I am sure 100% I can " - This what comes up immediately on my mind. Who wouldn't want to work with the big company? I have been chasing them since I start my diploma education.

So I wait until the end of the briefing. I wait for my turn for the interview. This going to be awesome. I keep mumbling silently alone. I was talking to my certificate. Someone dropped her pen besides me and while picking up the pen she looked at me and I looked at her too and I said " I'm gonna be on the top 35 and you will not. Screw you". LOL I was just kidding. Of course I didn't say that in front of her face, are you crazy?

There's approximately around 200 people (if my two eyes with perfect sight didn't make a mistake) on that day who queued up for their own turn for interview. I waited for an hour for my turn. I did not know anybody around that moment so I am all alone like stupid man lost out of nowhere. I decided to just relax and just keep my mouth shut and just wait for my turn. I wait I wait and wait. I looked at the sky, the green tree , the sky, the clouds, the stair, the birds, and wait. I got fed up and decided to just cut the line and enter the room. Dang. I should have done this an hour before.

There I make my self comfort by just sitting to 8 strangers. I am not interested to politely ask for permission to sit down. Haha. Next to me a guy with fully buttoned formal shirt (Raieman) and with two friends who always make silly joke about Parkson ( Bakar Maidi and his friend). I did not laugh. I grab some book and read it. It was about business and politics. I am not interested so I put the book back to its place. The guy next to me (Raieman) took it and read it with passion. I was

From the left : Bakar Maidi a.ka Burn , Sue (The girl that's in my team for interview) and Raieman

Suddenly a voice calling someone in my direction.
"Boy , boy"

I was like... huh?

"Boy , boy, ko dari mana?"

She talking to me?  Oh well. Of course. Her eyes are looking at me.

"Ko dari mana?

After awkward pause ...

"Aku dari semporna. Ko dari UMS ka?"
"Tidak, UiTM Sarawak"
"Oh. Patutlah tidak pernah nampak."
"Ko dari Semporna? Ko drive dari Semporna pigi sini ka?"
"Tidak lah, saya stay dengan kawan saya. Ko mau apply hostel ka?"
"Mahal tu, dia cakap Rm5 per day. "
"Ko boleh illegal bah, ko masuk ja sana bilik kalo ko ada member sini lah"

And then our turn for the interview. That two friends decided to separate and one of them is with my team. The interviewer , Vivien then call us "Ok the next, the Fantastic Four" (since there's three man and one girl).
I sat down, being the first one who starts the interview and later I found out that Vivien is a close friend to my former colleague back in Shang Ri La Tg Aru resort. I don't know why but it seems like I am the one who interview her. The session went on well and I walk out of the room with big satisfaction. I know I made it. I just know it. I talk to the guy who sits beside me and found out that he's also from UiTM, but in Shah Alam.
Oh well. I walk back to my car, and drive back to my home. The next thing I am looking for.... the final confirmation call tomorrow.

Oh wait. Do you want to know who is the girl who talk to me ? Her name is... Rafidah a.k.a Ipit
Ipit. She played a major role during my journey of MCMF

Note : I did not know all the names back then. The name was confirmed after the "investigation" during the program.

He's an Accountant

His name is Steve Beguhn . If you’re a fan of American idol then you must have seen him. No, he did not make it through to the Hollywood week, but there’s something special about this guy. I truly admire this person.

His American Idol 10 Milwaukee Audition

Believe it or not, I do have a personality, so let's have some fun, and whatever you do...don't write-off the accountant!! :) (Last accounting joke, I promise...)
The journey of which you're all aware began during Season 10 of American Idol, and I am a lot like many of you. I'm just a small town guy that went to college, got a few degrees, and started working full-time.

Also like you, I have a dream.

When one of my best friends passed away from leukemia unexpectedly in December 2006 at the age of 22, I learned that nothing in life is guaranteed and you may never get a tomorrow to pursue your dream. Inspired by her memory and zest for life, I auditioned in Omaha with two great friends for Season 7 of American Idol. "No" was the answer.

Two years passed, and I continued working as an auditor, during which time Kimberlie’s memory, as well as my dream, only grew stronger. I auditioned in Chicago for Season 9 of American Idol. "No" was again the answer.

Admittedly frustrated, I returned to my craft of auditing, but I was determined to give this another shot. One year later, I auditioned in Milwaukee for Season 10 of American Idol. This time, "Yes" was the answer.

I never could have anticipated the aftermath of that third audition, and I have been incredibly humbled by the kind words and support I've received from around the world. I would like to quickly thank my beautiful and amazing fiancé for her unwavering support, as she more than anyone understands the depth of my passion for music, performance, and bringing smiles to peoples' faces. That's what this is all about!

Wherever this road leads, I am inspired by and grateful for you, my fans - thank you all for encouraging me along the way, and thank you for helping me get one step closer to my dream! I am not done, so stay tuned! My advice to you is simple - don't wait for tomorrow - Live that Dream!

Too Much Estrogen

So The Amazing Race 17 finale ended up made a history of having the first All-Female™ team to win the race. Congratulations to the doctors Kat & Nat and to the runner up Brook & Claire. Well as the fan of the show since 2001, all I can say that this season finale is literally made for the female. The roadblock is about decorating flowers.WTF HAHAA. Sooooo feminine.(the annoying fags says "awww") And less challenging, except for Thomas. Ok Kat & Nat won the $1 million bucks. Fullstop.

Next time The Amazing Race 18 will premiered on 20 February 2011 and  was dubbed as "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business", like the resurrection of the dead wanted to revenge. I hope they'll visit some of the spooky and scary places on earth, to prove that this is really a business needed to be done.
No more "First All Female" team to win the race this time. I hope Jet & Cord heat up the finale and win the title. (and of course the money).

I Don't Really Care

First up, The Amazing Race 17 top three contenders revealed last Sunday as they racing in the border between South Korea and North Korea, and the last team eliminated from the race are Nick & Vicky. Bla bla bla, you can read the information about the race summary on wikipedia. The final three will be racing in Los Angeles, USA. This time around in finale, we about to witness whether the all female team (the doctors and the home shopping hosts) will prove the USA woman's capability to win the race after none of the previous female teams of SIXTEEN season, successfully grab the title. Dang, sixteen season? That's more likely since 2001.

Ok, enough said about the race. Let's talk the another meaning of the word "race". Yeah. Race. Literally means which "tribe" you belongs to. I hate it when it comes to certain groups of particular race in this "United-we-stand-Divided-we-fall" nation. Whether there is secretly hidden group layers in this community? Like I care. I don't really like when someone approach to me and say "Why are you not like me" (Religion matter). I don't wanna point out which "tribe" this scum belongs to, but WHY THE HELL you want me to answer your question? That's Racist. And I don't like having conversation about which is right, which is wrong, especially when it comes to religion, ESPECIALLY THE PERSON WHO ASK YOU ON THE FIRST PLACE CONVINCE HIMSELF THAT HE IS ACTUALLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
Dude come on, I am not in your race, so I'm not bounded into your race's religion. Don't pour your gasoline or kerosene into the fire in me.

Rhythm & Sound

Did you guys ever had this some sort of De Ja vu when listening to some rhythm in songs? Although I'm not really sure what that means or any medical symptoms regarding to this experience, I on the other hand feels like having one whenever this Sony 3D TV commercial is on air. I don't know why, but the intro of the theme song is really reminds me how old I am to the world, literally. It's really makes me feel I'm already been into this world so long and I start to flashback my memories. Hahaha.. sounds ghetto.

Here is the Sony 3D TV commercial clip.

The theme song of this commercial video is from The Morning Benders entitled "Excuses".

I'd downloaded this song and listen to it over and over again, it really helps me calm myself and start hypnotizing me to relax. Haha.
